The 3rd Conference on Sociocultural Theory & Foreign Language Education
(CALL FOR ABSTRACTS)
進入21世紀以來，社會文化理論作為外語教育的新興理論，其影響力逐年增加，對我國本土的外語教育改革也帶來衆多新的啟示。尤其是“外語教育學”近日被列為二級學科，其理論體系正在構建過程中，如能将兩者結合，既可以助力我國外語教育創新發展，也可助推社會文化理論的科學本土化。目前社會文化理論指導的外語教育研究方向多樣，包括教師發展研究、教學方法研究、課程評估研究、語言測試研究、外語學習研究、外語教材研究、外語現代教育技術研究等，其研究成果與外語教育的兼容性較高，影響力日漸廣泛，也受到越來越多的國内外學者的關注。為進一步推動社會文化理論與外語教育的有效融合，提升我國外語教育研究的國際影響力，第三屆社會文化理論與外語教育學術會議将于2024年5月17-19日在太阳成集团tyc234cc（中國·廣州）舉行。
此次會議由中國英漢語比較研究會二語習得研究專業委員會主辦，太阳成集团tyc234cc承辦，上海外語教育出版社、高等教育出版社、商務印書館，《現代外語》《中國外語》《外語界》《太阳成集团tyc234cc學報》《當代外語研究》《北京第二外國語學院學報》《山東外語教學》等期刊編輯部協辦。大會特邀國内外知名學者專家做主旨發言，并設有特邀專題讨論、平行論壇、工作坊、主編論壇等學術研讨環節，歡迎廣大外語教育領域的學者參會。
Since the onset of the 21st century, Sociocultural Theory has emerged as a pivotal framework within the realm of foreign language education, steadily augmenting its influence year after year. This theory has ushered in a multitude of insights, particularly contributing to the ongoing reform efforts in foreign language education across China. Notably, the recent classification of “foreign language education” as a secondary subject underscores its growing significance, with efforts underway to refine its theoretical underpinnings. This convergence holds immense promise, not only for fostering innovative strides within China’s foreign language education landscape but also for fostering the nuanced localization of Sociocultural Theory. Currently, Sociocultural Theory serves as a guiding beacon across a spectrum of research domains within foreign language education, spanning teacher development, pedagogical methodologies, curriculum assessment, language proficiency evaluation, language acquisition, textbook design, technology-enhanced learning, and beyond. With its remarkable adaptability, its influence continues to proliferate, captivating the interest of an expanding cohort of scholars both domestically and abroad.
In order to catalyze a deeper integration between Sociocultural Theory and foreign language education, and to bolster the global resonance of Chinese research in this field, the 3rd Conference on Sociocultural Theory and Foreign Language Education is slated to convene at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies from May 17th to May 19th, 2024, Guangzhou, China.
The conference, hosted by the School of English Education at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, represents a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Chinese Association of Second Language Acquisition. It is further supported by esteemed partners such as the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, Higher Education Press, and Commercial Press. In addition to these esteemed organizations, prominent academic journals, including Journal of Modern Foreign Languages, Journal of Foreign Languages in China, Journal of Foreign Language World, Journal of Contemporary Foreign Language Studies, Journal of Beijing International Studies University, and Journal of Shandong Foreign Language Teaching, will actively participate in the conference.
Distinguished scholars and experts from both domestic and international academic circles will grace the event with their presence, delivering keynote speeches, participating in invited colloquia, parallel sessions, workshops, editor-in-chief forums, and various other engaging sessions. With its inclusive approach, the conference welcomes scholars from all corners of the globe who are passionate about advancing research in foreign language education.

歡迎學者組織專題讨論，每組3-5人，小組成員由主持人邀請。要求選題聚焦，提交材料需包含主持人和小組的個人簡曆、聯系方式、工作單位、郵箱、職務等信息，以及每位發言人的摘要。

Abstract Submission:
Abstracts in both Chinese and English (300-500 words) are welcome. Please provide titles in both languages, along with author names, affiliations, mailing addresses, and contact information. The conference's official email (gdufsyyjyxy@163.com) should be used for abstract submissions.
Scholars are welcome to organize colloquia, with each group comprising 3-5 individuals invited by the moderator. Topics should be focused, and submissions must include the moderator’s and group members’ short CVs, contact information, affiliations, email addresses, positions, etc. Additionally, each speaker’s abstract should be included.
Abstract submission deadline: 31st March, 2024
